Professor Bin Jiang Wu, R.TCMP, R.AC, Ph.D
Academic Background and Early Experience:
Professor Wu is the founder and president of the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He began his medical career as a barefoot doctor following his uncle to serve local villagers in China in 1973. After 5 years of study at the Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine in Harbin, China (1978-1983), he received a Bachelor's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. After 3 years of study at China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China, he received a Master’s Degree in Medicine in Acupuncture & Qigong. From 1985 to 1988, he was amongst the first group of graduates both in China and internationally to receive the Master’s Degree of Medicine in the Qigong Program. He later studied at the Hebei Medical University of Shijiazhuang, China, and received a Ph.D. in Chinese & Western Integrated Medicine.
Present:
Professor Wu is the vice president of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS), the vice president of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), the founder and president of International Association of Wu’s Head Massage, the president and founder of International Health Qigong Federation, the chairman of the board of TCM Acupuncture Inheritance Committee of WFAS, the Ph.D. program professor of Henan University of TCM , the guest professor of Heilongjiang University of TCM & Chengdu University of TCM, editor/chief of the English/Chinese version of World Chinese Medicine(Canada) magazine, the chairman of DC Acupuncture and TCM International Inc., chairman of Dr. Wu Naturals Canada Inc., the vice chairman of the Education Guidance Work Committee of WFCMS, “Great Master of International Instructor of WFCMS," review expert at The National Natural Science Foundation of China, invited expert at the Austrian Natural Science Foundation Committee, the direct lineal descendant of Jin Zhang, the representative of the TCM Acupuncture Intangible Culture Heritage of Humanity (authorized by UNESCO), and shortlisted and top project and expert of "100 Talents and 100 Skills" project for overseas Chinese TCM practitioners in 2017.
Since 1986, Professor Wu has visited and trained students in Japan, the United States of America, Canada, Russia, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Iran, Taiwan, and Yugoslavia. The total number of students has reached close to one thousand, with a large majority being in Austria, Hungary, and Canada.
Many of his written articles regarding TCM, acupuncture, and Qigong have been published internationally. A large number of his academic papers were also presented at international medical symposiums and conferences. There are over 300 reports in newspapers, magazines, journals, radio, and television from different countries such as Japan, U.S.A., Germany, France, Austria, Hungary, China, Yugoslavia, and Canada that feature him and his contributions. Professor Wu is also the associate editor of the second publication of “Explaining and Proofreading by Mandatory Classical Literature”《针灸大成校释》.
Professor Wu is the founder and global promoter of Wu’s Head Massage which has gradually become a popular school of thought in the overseas Chinese Medicine Community. "Wu's Head Massage" is published in English, Hungarian and Chinese. He is experienced in clinical research of acupuncture manipulation, Qigong, insomnia treatment, uterine bleeding, infertility, and physical and psychological dysfunctions. In recent years, the strategic development, teaching, and education of overseas Chinese Medicine have been carried out to a great extent.
Professor Wu came to Canada in 1998. He established the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The motto of the College states, “Our mandate is to share the wisdom of tradition and our lineage with you while we explore the possibilities of practice in today’s diverse medical world.” The purpose of the college is to lead the field in education and development, educating outstanding practitioners in TCM.
Since 2001, Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine has established a “sister school relation” with Henan University of TCM and Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine and cooperated to nurture 28 Masters and 10 Doctoral graduate students.

With the development of high technology and the wide use of computers, more and more people are working in offices as ‘white collar professionals’. Such group includes programmers, secretaries, managers, bank clerks, accountants, lawyers, doctors, etc. As a result more and more people have suffered from different civilisation related illness. For instance, those sitting in front of the computer are apt to suffering from ‘computer syndrome’, an impediment characterised by vertigo, irritability, headache, visual fatigue and heavy shoulders. Also, those who live a fast-paced stressful city life are apt to suffering from the gastrointestinal irregularities, insomnia, etc. Those who drive often or sit for a long period in front of a computer at work, in front of a TV at home, and do less exercise are apt to suffering from neck diseases. The treatment and prevention of these civilisation-related illnesses by a natural medical approach has been a challenging question that confronts many medical professionals. Wu’s Head Massage, a new specialised treatment and health care method, is a direct solution to these problems.
Wu’s Head Massage which is based on the experience of our ancestors, on the theory that of the distribution of organs and limbs on the face as described in The Yellow Emperor’s Canon of Internal Medicine, and on the theories of the scalp and ear acupuncture. Wu’s Head Massage is also practised by assimilation of theories from Shaoling and Er-Mei acupoint pressure techniques, Qigong, and hypnosis. It adapts technique of original local head massage, then applying the standard practice movements, until the final enrichment steps refined what is now an established and completed set of treatment, that is set in full accordance to the professionally standard method. Since then, Wu’s head massage has gained the research attention of the medical field.
TIMELINE
During 1980’s, the founder of foot Massage, Priest Ruoshi Wu introduced a technique that originated from the Chinese native local foot massage therapy first to Taiwan and then to Europe. It was a pity, however, that during its introductory period overseas, his foot massage therapy was quickly absorbed, dismembered and differentiated by the Reflexology School due to lack of Chinese Medical theory and sufficient strategies in marketing and planning. In contrast, the Wu’s Head massage gave birth to fruitful results due to Professor Wu’s hard work and dedication of over ten years. The healing principle of the head massage is in accordance with a systematic traditional Chinese medical theory; the application of the standard practising movements and the supplement of Five Organs Tea (enhancer for the five different internal organs namely the heart, liver, spleen, lung and kidney) all combined to perfect and lengthen each supplement’s effectiveness. In 2009, after years of research, under the leadership and Guidance of Professor Wu, the medical experts of The Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine invented the famous “5 Elements Massage & Acupuncture Therapeutic System”. Wu’s Head Massage registered its intellectual assets worldwide to protect its right. While enjoying its popularity in Europe and America, Wu’s Head Massage will surely be practised all over the world in ten years time for the benefit of human civilisation.
In 1993, Professor Wu first introduced Wu’s Head Massage to the public in the form of an article. This was done at the 3rd World Conference on Acupuncture for the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies held in Japan. Since then, through more than a decade of extensive clinical and teaching experiences, Wu’s Head Massage develops to maturity and towards perfection.
In 1998, in hopes of spreading Wu’s Head Massage to gain international application and acclaim, Professor Wu left Vienna, Austria, and immigrated as a special talent to Canada, a country known for multi-national and diverse cultures.
In April 2000, Professor Wu held the position of President of Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (OCTCM) and started setting up a training base for the formal Chinese medical education in English language. In August, the first batch of WHM students graduated. To this date there are now several hundreds who boast as graduates of OCTCM. Meanwhile, training facilities are branching out to other locations such as Halifax, Owen Sound and Montreal.
In September 2000, the Wu’s Head Massage International Association headquarter was founded in Toronto, Canada. Branches of the association are also established in Europe (Austria and Hungary).
On April 9, 2001, Professor Wu was invited by the Toronto City TV Breakfast Show, to do a live show and interview demonstrating the Wu’s Head Massage.
In 2003, The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario listed Wu’s Head Massage as one of the courses for the Register Massage Therapists (RMT) under quality assurance program and, has accredited for 30 continuing education units (CEUs).
In November 2004, at the 6th World Conference on Acupuncture for the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies held in Golden Coast, Australia, Professor Wu was asked to give a special topic presentation and demonstration on Wu’s Head Massage, all of which generated great interest among the attendees.
In October 2005, the English-edition monograph of Wu’s Head Massage, which Professor Wu devoted more than ten years in research and experience to establish, was published in the U.S. and internationally released and distributed.
In November 2005, the Wu’s Head Massage trademark title and its logo were registered and approved as an intellectual asset by the Canada Federal Trademark Office.
In January 8, 2006, the Overseas Traditional Chinese Medicine Educator and the founder of Head Massage, Professor Bin Jiang Wu was awarded as one of ‘The Most Improved Chinese Entrepreneur 2005’ in Canada.
In May 29, 2006, Professor Wu Bin Jiang managed the article ‘Wu’s Head Massage’ in Hungarian Budapest, the new book release. He was also invited as the honour president in “Hungarian Wu’s Head Massage Association”.
In October 2007, he participated in “The 20th Anniversary of The World Acupuncture and Moxibustion Academic Society and the Academic Congress”. Professor Wu is presenting ‘The Clinical Practice of Head Massage Treatment of Insomnia’. He was also invited to be a branch Executive Chairman of this congress in Beijing. Professor Wu was also elected to be the Vice President of the Educational Instruction Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS).
On November 11, 2007, Professor Wu was invited by Taiwan Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Chinese Traditional Osteopathic Manipulation Cooperation & Taiwan International Association of Manipulative Medicine fora seminar. This event allowed the promotion and exchange of the culture of Traditional Chinese Medicine between China, Taiwan and Canada.
In March 2008, Professor Wu was invited to be the Judging Expert of NSFC (National Natural Science Foundation of China) for the Chinese Herbal Project. And in the same year, professor Wu was also elected to act as the Vice President of The University Cooperation Working Committee of the World Federation of Acupuncture Moxibustion Societies (WFAS).
In January 2009, Professor Wu was featured on the cover page of the American Chinese Fortune Magazine.
In February 2009, the Wu’s Head Massage Therapy was officially approved for its Trademark application from the Chinese Federal Government of both text and logo. It is now legally trademarked under the intellectual property protection.
In August 2009, he successfully organised “2009 International Chinese Traditional Medicine & Manual Technique” held in Toronto.
In November 2009, he was invited to join The 7th General Assembly of WFAS and World Acupuncture Congress at the European Parliament of Strasbourg France, in which Professor Wu was elected as one of the Board Members of the WFAS.
In November 2010, Prof. Wu attended and made a keynote speech for "World Congress of Chinese Medicine" in San Francisco, USA.
In December 2010, Prof. Wu became the cover guest of the Christmas magazine of Fame in Canada.
In August 2011, Prof.Wu was hired as a visiting professor at Chengdu University of TCM.
In August 2011, Ontario College of TCM successfully organized the “2011 International Convention of Traditional Medicine & Manual Techniques”.
In September 2011, Prof. Wu attended and was elected as executive director of WFCMS and “The 7th World Congress of Chinese Medicine” at London.
In October 2011, Prof. Wu attended and was re-elected as vice president of the Second Council of Education Instruction of WFCMS in Beijing, China.
In June 2012, Prof. Wu participated in the “International Manual TCM Forum” in Changchun, China, and was elected as Vice president of the World TCM Manual Practice Committee.
In December 16th, 2012, Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine moved to Markham and entered into a new development period.
In October 2013, Prof. Wu attended the “ The 8th General Assembly of WFAS and World Acupuncture Congress “ in Sydney and made the keynote speech.
In June 2014, Prof. Wu was elected as the chairman of the board of TCM Acupuncture Inheritance Committee of WFAS.
In July 2014, Prof. Wu was hired as a visiting professor at Jiangxi University of TCM.
In April 2015, Prof. Wu invited to attend “2015 International Congress of Anesthesia and Integrative medicine” and made a keynote speech in Shanghai.
In Aug 2015, Prof. Wu was hired as the Judging Expert of Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
In September 2015, the first “Inheritance Base for Acupuncture-Moxibustion of TCM World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies” settled in Toronto, Canada, Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In October 2015, Prof. Wu participated in “World Chinese Medicine Congress” in New Zealand and was selected as the vice chairman of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Association.
In April 2016, DC Wellness Centre opened in the city of Richmond Hill .
In May 2016, “ 2016 Canada Acupuncture and TCM Continuing Education Conference “ was successfully held and a congratulatory letter from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was got.
In October 2016, Prof. Wu participated in the “World Chinese Medicine Congress” . He was awarded the “International Prestigious Teacher” title by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Association.
In January 2017, OCTCM”s second campus opened in the heart of Chinatown in Downtown Toronto.
In May 2017, “ 2017 Canada Acupuncture and TCM Continuing Education Conference “ was successfully held.
In May 2017, China Central Television (CCTV4) reported the “ 2017 Canada Acupuncture and TCM Continuing Education Conference ” which is sponsored by Ontario College of TCM, Canada.
In June 2017, Prof. Wu was shortlisted and won the number one project as well as becoming the expert of “100 Talents and 100 Skills” project for overseas Chinese TCM practitioners in 2017 in Beijing, China.
In December 2017, Prof. Wu attended “The 9th General Assembly of WFAS and World Acupuncture Congress “ and was elected as the vice president of WFAS in Beijing, China.
In February 2018, China Central Television (CCTV4) re-reported Ontario College of TCM as a representative of TCM acupuncture during the Spring Festival.
In September 2018, Prof. Wu attended and was re-elected as the vice president of the Third Council of Education Instruction of WFCMS in Tianjin, China.
In October 2018, OCTCM hold the “2018 Canada Acupuncture and TCM Continuing Education Conference and The Academic Seminar for 20th Anniversary of Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine”.
